Lesson 4: 28/09/17

Lesson Aim:
Introduce Assignment 1
Research necessary information for A1T1
Develop working knowledge of the LEGO sensors

Learning Outcomes: 
Conduct research and use notes to work toward completing A1T1
Conduct research and use notes to work toward completing A1T2
Conduct research and use notes to work toward completing A1T3
Understand the use of control structures in nXc code. 
Implement code and demonstrate usage of Sound and touch sensors
As above, as well as for the ultrasonic and infrared/light sensors.
Create a program that utilises a number of sensors and reacts to each accordingly. 
Discuss/Design the look and functionality of your LEGO Robot

Learning Objectives:
Continue working on Assignment 1 Task 1
Implement sensors and develop controlling code for the LEGO robot. 
Develop knowledge of how to implement each sensor on the LEGO robot
Demonstrate your design for the LEGO robot

In this lesson you will be completing A1T2 - Test on matrix operations

Aim: Be able to solve simultaneous equations algebraically 

Objectives:
Perform operations on matrices
Solve simultaneous equations by subtraction
Be confident applying operations to matrices
Complete A1T2 on matrix operations
Be able to solve simultaneous equations
Check answers by substitution

Today I have learnt how to build a LEGO robot. I have also recapped on simultaneous equations.

Today a strength has been building a LEGO robot that could use 4 wheel drive and 4 sensors. Another strength has been remembering how to apply operations to matrices.

Today a weakness has been not being able to code the LEGO robot. Another weakness not effectively explaining simultaneous equations to my peers.

Today has been okay as I think I did well on the maths assignment and had fun with robots.

Aims: Understand the fundamentals of scripting languages
Structure some JavaScript

Objectives:
Clearly explain JavaScript constructs, with examples
Discuss, using examples, how a scripting language can improve functionality
Correctly structure JavaScript when creating code containing loops, decision making and functions

Today a strength has been almost completing U20_A2T1.

Today A weakness has been that I had a hangover at the beginning of the day.

Today has been ok as I have been able to work nicely.

Today a strength has been getting most of the questions right on binary and hex.

Today a weakness has been explaing gender stereotyping.

Today I have learnt more about DAC (Digital to Analogue Conversion) and ADC (analogue Digital Conversion).

Gender stereotyping is when marketing company use pink for girls and blue for boys and also uses one gender on packaging.

Develop working knowledge of the LEGO sensors

Learning Outcomes:
Begin working on Assignment 1 Task 1
Implement each sensor individually on the LEGO robot. 

Learning Objectives: 
Conduct research, and use notes to work toward completing A1T1
Identify and explain Service Orientated EDP
Identify and explain Time Driven EDP
Identify and explain at least one example of a possible event in EDP
Identify and explain the use of Trigger Functions in EDP
Develop knowledge of how to implement each sensor on the LEGO robot

Today one of my strengths has been working with William to make a four wheel drive robot that can react to obstacles in front.

Today one of my weaknesses has been the robot kept falling apart.

Today I have learnt how to use the light sensor on the robot.

Today has been fun as we got to play with robots. :)

Aim: To understand the characteristics and features of scripting languages
Objectives:
Explain some characteristics of scripting languages
Explain a variety of features of scripting languages including constructs
Complete JavaScript practical exercises

Today a strength has been coding in JavaScript.

Today I could not think of a weakness.

Today I have learnt how to make a clock that changes the background colour using JavaScript. 

I have a Re-submission U20_A1 on the 02/10/2017, also U20_A2T1 due for the 10/10/2017.

Today has been good as I have been able to learn a lot about JavaScript.

Today has been good as I have previous knowledge of logic gates.
I have one dead line, U24 A1T2 10th of October.

Lesson 2 - 14/09/17

Lesson Aim:
Increase knowledge of EDP.
Analyse application for their use of EDP. 
Learn how different LEGO NXT sensors function, and how to utilise them using code. 

Learning Outcomes:
Research advantages and disadvantages of EDP
Learn about service oriented EDP
Create code to control a number of sensors on the LEGO Robots
Create code that controls a number of LEGO robot sensors.

Explain service oriented Event Driven Programming
Explain the definition of service oriented EDP
Research further key aspects of Event Driven Programming
Explain functionality and usage of LEGO sensors

Today I have learnt how to code in NXC for Lego robots.

Today a strength has been being able to learn how to use the ultrasonic sensor.

A weakness that I had today was added to much to the robot so that it would fall apart.

Today has been fun since we got to play with Lego robots.

Aim: To explain the fundamentals of CSS

Objectives:

Explain how to correctly write CSS
Effectively explain the different types of selectors
Confidently explain what the box model is and the components that make it up
State where JavaScript should be placed in a web page
Write some basic JavaScript

Today a strength has been handing in all my assignments so that I have no more work that needs to be done at the moment.

Today a weakness has been writing hours instead of minutes and seconds in a JavaScript program, this took me 10 minutes to figure out. 

Today I have learnt how to write a bit of JavaScript.

Today has been good cause I have focused and done a lot of work.

I have no deadlines.

Today a strength of mine has been using previous knowledge of binary code to help me in the lesson.

A weakness of mine has been something.

Today I learnt about the four main types of control systems and also a bit about terrorism.

Today has been good as I have understood what we are learning and it ends early so yay.

Up coming deadline U20A1T1 due on the 15/09/2017 and U26A1T1 due on the 14/09/2017 and U24A1T1 is due 19/09/2017.

Learn about researching topics, picking out the important information.
Learning Outcomes:Research the topic of Event Driven Programming.
Learn about the NXT Mindstorms platform Implement a simple program to control the LEGO robot
Implement an intermediate program that controls the LEGO robot
Implement a program that utilities 1 or more sensors on the LEGO robot

Aim:
Describe the relationship between matrices and computer programme arrays.
Objectives:
Be able to construct a matrix from given information.
Use correct terminology to describe a matrix.
Write at least two matrices in chosen programming language.
Perform matrix addition and multiplication.
Perform scalar multiplication.

Today a strength of mine was learning the basics of NXC. Another strength of mine was learning how to add, subtract, multiply and make matrices.

Today a weakness of mine was taking a while to get the robot connected to the PC.

Today was fun because we played around with robots and I began to learn a new programming langugae (NXC).

Up coming deadline U20 A1 on the 15th of Sept and U26A1T1 on the 14th of Sept.

Aims: To create a responsive web page

Objectives:
Create a web page using HTML, CSS and Bootstrap
Explain what CSS is
State some of the uses of CSS
Explain the advantages of CSS
Work out the priority of implementation methods for style sheets
Describe the different CSS implementation styles

Today I learnt about External CSS, inline CSS and internal CSS.

A strength of mine today has been being able to stay on task and complete my work.

I could not think of a weakness.

Today was alright because I kind of made an reactive website.

Up and coming deadline is U20_A1 for the 15th.

Today I have learnt my login.

A strength I had today was being able to work well in a team.

A weakness I had was not building the egg parachute stable enough.

The thing I would have done differently is make the paper airplane more stream line.
